NYC: ABRACO

I was super psyched when my fellow foodie friend Diane called me to tell me she was heading to NYC for a last minute getaway. The day after she arrived we agreed to meet at a little "cafe" (and I place cafe in quotes because the "cafe" fits about 4 people standing style) she had wanted to try called Abraco. Always up for edible adventures, I eagerly obliged and we met despite my lack of cell phone battery meaning we didn't have a way to communicate if one of us was late.

Nonetheless, we met and dove into Abraco's famed pound cakes, olive oil and honey ricotta cornbread. Literally, never in my life have I had a juicier (and I mean juicy when I say juicy), moister, more luscious breakfast cake in my life.

(Honey Ricotta Cornbread- you can actually see the bits of ricotta)

Absolutely amazing. My fav was the honey ricotta which was so moist my fingers we completely cloaked in melted butter or whatever it was in there- the cake slices were quite heavy, but at the same time not doughy but light and airy.

(Olive Oil Cake)

I know that sounds contradictory, but you've gotta go and check it out to see what I mean. We washed it all down with a yummy strong cappuccino, and snagged almond rose meringue cookies to go. I can't wait to go to NYC to hit this place up again. It's hard to diversify one's self in the food world of NYC, but Abraco is heads and tails above the rest, YUM!
